Day 1 Diary
My first blog diary- woohoo!!
Hello everyone, where are you all? Hopefully tucked up at home safe and well, helping the NHS to save lives.
Today like many of you we have been trying to keep ourselves busy. I don’t have any homeschooling to do, it’s just my husband and me to entertain ourselves. I’m not needed for work until Wednesday, which still feels like ages away.
As the sun is shining it’s got me in the mood to get out in the garden. How many of you have been in the garden today? I know most of my neighbours have, I think it must have been NATIONAL LAWN MOWING DAY! Don’t tell me, there is a national lawn mowing day.
Well, my gardening today was not tending to weeds, plants or lawn mowing, but to help my husband to clear our del boy’s yard! A result from our garage overflowing and creeping into the back garden eek! I blame it on my husband, he has a habit of bringing stuff home which he thinks we need! It was time to clear out, no excuses.
Amazing what you find when clearing out and I admit I got excited by! old pots of paint!! especially as we can’t get any paint at the moment. I was happy to have another job to do and I love painting, anything. I got to paint the truly awful plastic plant pots we had. Guess what? These were some of my husband’s treats he brought home!
What do you think? I liked the bright colour.
I love anything creative, and so I’m on a mission now with hubby to upcycle what we can from the clear out. Do you like being creative? I’d love to hear about the creative projects you have on the go to help keep yourself busy, or why not share a picture with me.
After a long day in the garden, it was time for a glass of wine, bliss.
Sending you all a big hug and see you tomorrow for Day 2.
Day 2 – Store Cupboard Cookery
I’m back, welcome to day 2 of my diary blog.
Today I thought I’d share a bit of Store Cupboard Cookery. Yesterday was my painting day so today I decided to do a cookery day.
I was not one of those people rushing to the shops to buy the supermarket up. Anyone who knows me will know food shopping is my least favourite thing to do. I was definitely not going to join in with the panicked crowds and strip the stores dry.
It got me thinking however how much food we actually have at home already. I really can’t remember the last time I checked the back of the food cupboards or exactly what the freezer held. Today I have taken it upon me to see how many dinners I could make with the food supply I have. I was surprised to calculate enough food for at least a couple of weeks.
Backs of cupboards, great places to find those tins we had forgotten about along with freezer goodies being frozen for decades! How many of you have stocks of tins that just keep getting pushed to the back of the cupboards?
Time to try some new recipes.
I don’t think it will be good enough for Raymond Blanc, certainly no a la carte, but I’m sure I’ll like it and hubby. Oh dear, my husband has just come indoors to see what I am up to. I mentioned I am doing a SPECIAL, he started to look worried. Think he’d like to get a take away instead! It’s not going to happen…
Some food I found in my cupboards, fridge, and freezer.
- Chicken (leftover from Sunday roast)
- A couple of potatoes
- Tin of tomatoes
- Tin of Kidney beans
- Vegetable stock cube (think might have been out of date, whoops).
- Tin of sweetcorn
- Frozen carrots
- Bit of ginger spice (I have oodles of spices that I don’t use enough)
- Salt and pepper
Hey presto, made a meal, enough for 4.
So easy, emptied all into a casserole dish, covered with foil and put in the oven at 180 degrees for an hour.
Bon appetite, my delicious bowl of food, yummy.
What stock cupboard recipes have you tried? I have some spinach I need to eat up so I need some ideas for this.
Thanks for reading and please leave me a comment.
Sending hugs to all, keep safe, well and look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Day 3
My first official day for working from home. Was looking forward to the novelty of working in my PJ’s but then I got called into the clinic. Very eerie, so quiet. Strange sitting at reception and no guests! Miss you all.
Stay safe and well x
Day 4
Enjoyed an early walk in the cold this morning. Just me and the birds.
I got excited when came across a swing someone had made. Decided to do a bit of stretching! Great fun. Thank you to whomever made the swing 🙂
Please all stay safe and keep well Claire x
