Top Tips To Help You Beat Lockdown Blues
We are here to help you say ‘Kapow’ to those lockdown blues. We hope our top tips below will help and inspire you.
James (Chiropractor)
My top tip to beat the lockdown blues is to remember the good times and talk to good friends.
Here is a picture from a few (6) years ago With Mykel, Megan his wife (although they weren’t even engaged then), and Victoria White one of our lovely chiropractors at the time.
We have just Won Eastbourne‘s Business of the year 2014!
It’s been great catching up with some really good people whilst we have a bit more time on our hands.
Louise (Chiropractor)
To stay grounded when I feel like I might go round the twist is to hop on my mat. No matter how awful or unmotivated I feel, I force myself onto my mat to do a Pilates class and I am guaranteed to feel so much better afterward. I find it also improves my productivity for the rest of the day!
It also helps to talk to a friend when the walls are really closing in. Listening to and focusing on someone you love’s voice can be massively calming during times of stress and anxiety 🙂
Ben (Sports Massage Therapist)
If you do one thing you should try some movement outdoors, take a deep breath, and enjoy the warmth of the sun on your face!
Claire (Clinic Assistant)
My top tip for you is to keep the focus on the small things in life which make you happy. Think about what you can do rather than what you can’t do.
My husband and I love being outdoors so we decided to camp out one night in our garden. We wouldn’t have thought about doing this if it wasn’t for lockdown.
We also thought this would be a great time for stargazing too. I downloaded a stargazing app on my phone, my husband and I were ready to become astronomers for the night. The night we chose, however, was the only night in the week which was cloudy. It was hilarious, my husband and I outside with binoculars and phone trying to find the stars through the clouds! We just hoped no-one reported us as peeping toms! We spent hours hunting down 2 stars, we did, however, see a passing bat.
We now plan to do this again but on a clear night next time.
Keep connected with people. We all need love and support from family and friends. There are so many ways we can connect with each other. Technology has been an amazing friend in helping to reach out to everyone and many of us have also learned new skills along the way.
If you’re missing your days out, you can still enjoy a day out without going out! There are many virtual tours from museums to art galleries to gardens. My friend’s children enjoyed a family day at the Natural History Musem together. A great way for kids to learn as well.
Ryan (Sports Massage Therapist)
Routine is the spice of life- I have been earning (every day) 5 life points. I do one session of strength, cardio (a run or cycle), life admin, me time(Netflix is handy here), And something new. Here’s a picture of banana bread I made last night…
You don’t have time to earn all of these daily points? Make time.
Please try to fuel your routine with 7+ hours of sleep per night. It really makes all the difference…
Sabrina (Clinic Assistant)
My top tip is to spend time with those you live with doing outdoor activities, a walk, a jog, cycling. Doing it with someone else makes it more fun and you can encourage each other to get up and go!
Diane (Administrator)
My top tip would be to take a moment, stop, and take in the beauty and stillness of our surroundings. Few quiet moments can settle our minds and focus on positive thoughts.
Kim (Sports Massage Therapist)
Have some structure to your day and stick to it. Make a list of small jobs to do that can refresh your old skills like sewing or painting or carpentry or creating something on your device.
Lizzie (Sports Massage Therapist)
My top tip for beating lockdown blues is to look forward to things to come. Such as meeting this little guy and the mayhem which is sure to follow.
Megan (Clinic Assistant)
My top tip would be to stay connected.
I’ve found that having a Zoom chat with friends and family is something to look forward to in the week. Even if it’s just a 10-minute catch-up. Obviously, the topic of conversation can be limited, so we’ve been coming up with games or quizzes to do with each other. These have encouraged us to get a little creative with things to do and dig out some old games to play.
Some of my friends and I have struggled with productivity and motivating ourselves for the tasks of the day(even though that isn’t an issue as such, just personal goals), therefore we have set each other challenges for the day. Just simple achievable tasks to help motivate us and give a sense of purpose. Our challenges include things like take a 30-minute walk, take time to paint or colour something, or use spare household items to make care packages for each other.
We each take an image or a video of the challenge to show it’s been completed. This has led to regular communication and has allowed us to keep in touch more than we usually would.
Gary (Chiropractor)
My top tip to beat lockdown blues is to listen or play music, works well to help reduce stress and anxiety levels. It can be used while you do your daily activities so it really doesn’t take time away from your schedule.

My tip is to make the most of the lovely weather. We have been thoroughly enjoying the wonderful weather that we have been lucky enough to have during lockdown.
During the day we have frequently sat in our favourite place in the garden and in the evening we have enjoyed a lot of fires as it has been so still.
We hope you have enjoyed reading our top tips. If you have any top tips you’d like to share with us, please leave a comment below.
We’d love to know how you’ve been keeping positive.
Thank you.
