Updated Monday 13th July: If you’re thinking about seeing an Eastbourne chiropractor it’s important to make sure the chiropractor is doing everything they should to keep you safe.
How this Eastbourne Chiropractor is Prioritising Your Safety
At Lushington Chiropractic we’ve always prioritised our patient’s health. During this time of Covid-19 (coronavirus) we’re taking a wide range of extra precautions to keep you and our team safe.
Lushington Chiropractic has carried out a wide range of risk assessments and made changes throughout the clinic.
There’s a pre-screening form for patients before they come here; we’re set up for social distancing in reception; we’ve made structural changes in the clinic; we’ve brought new equipment; we’ve upgraded our extensive cleaning protocols and we’re using PPE properly.
Correct, properly used and responsibly sourced PPE is just part of our risk management strategies.
Our chiropractic and sports massage team have undergone many hours of professional development training on effective hand washing, cleaning, infection control, on how to recognise and assess individual patient’s risk factors.
Our team are prioritising our patient’s needs when considering who it’s appropriate to see for hands-on treatment and what additional precautions might be needed, or the use of remote/telehealth (telephone or video assessments). We’ll continue to follow up-to-date guidance and information.
Prioritising Your Health
This blog gives you some insight into the precautions we’re taking to prioritise your health. It would be impossible to share all of them, as we’ve created over 60 pages of risk assessments, policies and procedures alone.
If you want to know more then, contact the clinic and speak to our Health and Safety Officer Sabrina Appleyard or the Clinic Director James Revell.
Firstly: Is it Ok to See a Chiropractor in Eastbourne?
Chiropractors and other medical services were specifically exempt from The Health Protections Regulations (Coronavirus Restrictions) that came into effect on 26th March 2020.
Travelling to and from chiropractic appointments was also listed as being appropriate even during the tightest phase of corona-virus Lockdown.
But it needs to be done properly.
Our chiropractors and sports massage therapy Team are doing everything they reasonably can to protect the health and well being of our patients.
Chiropractic Pre-Screening Declaration for Coronavirus
We pre-screen everyone before they come in. We’ll send you a questionnaire to identify any key risk factors you have and to explain the protocols you need to follow when you’re here. If you have any questions at all just call us (01323) 722499.
Social Distancing when you see your Chiropractor or Sports Massage Therapist
Despite the changes in Government advice we’re sticking to 2m social distancing wherever possible. Our receptionists are protected with a screen, we’ve spaced appointments out, we use contactless payments and keep the doors open to circulate air.
Please don’t to arrive early and not bring extra people with you. We’ve also removed touch points throughout the clinic, so no magazines or water in reception at the moment.
If you’re coming for massage or Sports Therapy please bring one large and one small towel with you.
Every patient, chiropractor and team member must wash their hands (for 20 seconds) when they arrive.
Our team wash their hands regularly throughout their shift.
Your chiropractor or sports massage therapist will also will wash their hands before and after they touch you, as well as using PPE.
There’s also alcohol sanitiser (strong enough to meet the recommendations to kill Covid-19) in every room.
Your chiropractor will be wearing an appropriate face mask, as well as appropriate gloves, plastic apron and eye protection. This is in-keeping (or exceeds) relevant PPE guidance.
As well as sourcing our PPE responsibly from reputable sources, every team member is properly trained in how to use and dispose of it.
You do not need to wear a mask, but are welcome to if you’d prefer. However, if you’re going to wear a mask check out the guidance on how to put it on, wear it and take it off afterwards.
There’s some really sensible information from the World Health Organisation here.
You may not see us do it, but we’re sanitising anything we see you touch when you’re at the clinic.
Every room has a wash basin, anti-bacterial spray and hand gel strong enough to kill Covid-19 and 99.9% of germs. We’ve carried out training on hand washing, room sanitisation and infection control.
Your chiropractor will clean anything you’ve touched in the room after every treatment. Even our benches are covered in plastic which is easier to clean.
We’re carrying out regular sanitisation of the treatment rooms throughout the day, a deep clean at the end of every shift and we’ve increased our external cleaning contracts.
UVc Germicidal Radiation
We’ve also installed high strength UVc Germicidal Radiation tubes in some rooms. These are used as an additional measure to disinfect the treatment room.
The specialist high strength UVc radiation kills bacteria and coronavirus in the air and on any surface the light shines on. The chiropractor will operate it when the room is empty. It’s an excellent back up to our manual cleaning routine.
Supporting the Team
We’ve put in place new procedures, not only for clinic health and hygiene, but also to protect our team and ensure they know when and how to self-isolate.
Each team member who’s working has taken that decision personally. If they are offering their services, it’s because they want to help.
Live in Eastbourne and Want to See a Chiropractor?
In you live in the Eastbourne area and want to see a chiropractor then you’ll need to complete one of our pre-screening Covid-19 declaration here.
Your chiropractor will also consider your personal risks and need for treatment.
They will prioritise your health and make the final decision as to whether they accept you for treatment.
If hands-on treatment isn’t appropriate for you, then you can benefit from the remote “tele-health” services we offer.
This involves a telephone or video assessment and advice. These have proven very popular.
We have a complimentary (FREE) mini-chat service that we always offer first. Then depending on your case and what you’d prefer, you can progress to a remote-consultation and follow up sessions, which are charged at the same rate as for in-house services.
If you’re local to Eastbourne, or from further away you’ll find the remote services are easy to use.

We Surveyed 300 Guest’s Who’ve Visited Since Lockdown and the feedback has been very positive.
- 90% rated us 10/10 for “feeling safe” when they visited.
- 95% rated us as 10/10 for how prepared the clinic is
- 100% would recommend coming
We asked for ideas feedback and were pleased to take on board some ideas to further improve such as:
- We’ve set up a second room for hand washing and have put sanitizer in reception
- We’re getting a new peddle bin in the bathroom
We hope these small changes will instil even more confidence in us during this time.
We were also touched by the kind words of support by so many people. Here are some of the positive comments we received
“I feel perfectly safe when attending the practice and do not feel you could do anything more than you are doing” Felicity
“Yes, I would definitely recommend. I would like to mention how reassuring it was to receive phone calls from Mykel during the lockdown to check if I had any concerns and to offer advice”. Kathleen
“I don’t personally think you could implement anything further. There is a balance to be had between Covid safe and being made to feel welcome and secure. I think the balance is just right”. Fiona
“Yes Definitely recommend… I think you are about the safest place to be in Eastbourne right now!” Sam
“I would definitely recommend coming I have been coming once a week and have felt completely safe. I cannot thank Louise enough for all that she has done for me during this crazy time! She has been so supportive even when you weren’t open!” Chantelle
“It is highly visible the thought and preparation that went into the practice before allowing clients. I feel totally safe.” Edwina
There were simply too many positive words of support to list them all here, but we’d like to thank everyone for their support and patience with all the health and safety precautions we’re taking.
Rest assured we’ll continue to do everything we can to keep you our team (& Eastbourne) safe.
