It’s been hard for all of us during lockdown to keep occupied but I thought I’d just share some of the things I’ve been up to. I initially found it really hard as I always like to be productive. As time has gone by my wife and I have planned our days better and managed to get more done.
Physical activity during lockdown
During lockdown it has been a great time to get some physical activity in. You may have seen during my first blog that my wife and I have been doing karate with our karate group via zoom. This has been really useful and we are doing this around four times a week. On my calls with guests I have heard of quite a few people getting involved in exercise classes over the internet as well. This is great. I’ve found lots of people are doing more exercise than before lockdown. This is essential to keeping the body moving well and coping without your adjustments. My wife and I also took part in our yearly 100 Kobudo (weapons) kata event with our karate club. This is a worldwide event and this year it was all done via Facebook live for those in Europe.
We have recently also started doing a exercise routine between 7.30am and 8.30am every weekday. This has been useful to take the opportunity to train the areas of our body’s that need strengthening and stretching. Walking regularly has also been very helpful with our lovely Downs providing a beautiful backdrop.
Catching up with friends during lockdown
Catching up with friends during lockdown has been nice. My wife and I have spoken to people that we haven’t spoken to for a while and it has been really good having long catch ups. Not having time restrictions has been nice so that we can just talk for ages.
Baking during lockdown
I have always enjoyed baking but have always struggled for time. During lockdown we have taken the opportunity and baked some scones and cake; and are in the process of making some croissant. The only problem with this is that you have to eat most of them yourself. Usually we would take things into the clinic and they would be hoovered up quite quickly, especially if Ryan and Oly are in. It has also brought up the age old problem in our house ‘scone’ or ‘scon’. For me it is ‘scone’ but it has always been ‘scon’ to my wife.
Ticking films off the list during lockdown
My wife and I have been trying not to spend too much time on the sofa during lockdown but we have been watching a few films. We’ve been meaning to watch Rocketman since it came out and thoroughly enjoyed it. One of the films we had never seen before was Alien and it sequels which again we thoroughly enjoyed. If there are any films that you recommend as must sees then please comment below.
I hope you’ve been managing to fill your time too and are looking after yourselves. If you’ve been struggling to find supplies for the things you want to do then check out James’ blog on local deliveries here.
